The Right Tournament
How Do You Find One?
To find the right tournament for your beginning junior golfer, you need to know that there are basically two types of golf tournaments that you can sign your junior golfer up for: recreational tournaments or game development tournaments. If your child is just starting out and you a looking for a fun experience, sign them up for the first few times in recreational tournaments. Game development tournaments are very competitive and your beginning tournament golfer may be very intimidated if that is her first exposure. Check with your golf club to see if they offer any junior tournaments. Many clubs sponsor their own recreational tournaments especially if they have a thriving
junior golf instruction program.
Your local community junior golf program, such as Parks and Recreations programs, may also offer recreational tournaments. The instructors there may also be aware of local junior tours that would be appropriate for your child’s level of play.
