Junior Golf Tournaments

Competing in junior golf tournaments can be a fun way for your child to take his or her game to the next level. It’s also a great way for them to make what could turn out to be life-long friends. After he or she has taken a few lessons, your child may be interested in seeing how they play compared to other junior golfers their age.

Great! But, where and how do you start?

First, ask yourself if your child is ready for competition. You don’t want them to have a bad first experience because they’re not quite ready yet. Is your child competent enough with their skills to enter a competition? Is your child mature enough? Click here to find out what we mean by “competent enough” and “mature enough.”

North County Junior Golf Association Tournament

Your next step is to find the right tournament to enter. In some regions of the country, especially where the weather permits playing all year round, there can be quite a few junior golf competition options. They may not be all appropriate for your child, though. For more information on finding and then picking the right tournaments for your junior golfer, click here.

As your child’s game progresses, you may be interested in other local competitions along with state/regional and national tours. Click here to find more information on local, state, regional and national tours.

Traveling so your child can compete beyond the local scene can be expensive. Click here to see how you can defray some of these costs.

Once your child is older and has some experience competing, your junior golfer may decide that they are interested in playing golf in high school and then in college. Click here to learn about the rankings that will play an important part of their competitive play once they reach that higher level, especially if they will be looking for a college scholarship.
