The First Tee:

Provides Free Golf Instruction and Life-Skill Lessons

The First Tee is an organization whose mission is: “To impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.”

An initiative of the World Golf Foundation, this organization has 206 locations in 49 states that promote education, character development, life skills, and values through the game of golf. They provide free golf instruction and life-skills lessons to more than 2.9 million kids aged 7 to 17.

They promote the Nine Core Values that represent many of the inherently positive values connected with the game of golf:

  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Sportsmanship
  • Respect
  • Confidence
  • Perseverance
  • Responsibility
  • Courtesy
  • Judgement

To find out more information on how to sign your child up, go to The First Tee. You can check their website to find a location near you. Many chapters have a registration and orientation process before your child can get certified.

This is an amazing program that brings the best of the game of golf to those who may not otherwise have access to golf and life skills instruction as well as mentoring opportunities, college scholarships and learning centers.
