Junior Golf Bags:
Durable is Best!
Many junior golf bags come with the golf sets you buy your junior golfer. US Kids and Nike, to name two, include the bags when you buy clubs so that the bags are the right size for the clubs.
If you are looking for a bag separately from your child’s clubs, you need to make sure that the bag is the right fit and not to long for the clubs. Junior golf bags can range from about 23” in height to about 34”, so check your club length before you buy. As your child gets older and you are buying clubs that don’t come with a bag, there are a couple of things that you should look for when buying. Along with height, check the weight of the bag. Even though many kids use pull carts, they will want to be able to carry the bag and the lighter the better. If the bag has more top dividers, the easier it will be for your junior golfer to get his clubs out of the bag. Bags come with different pockets; one of the bags our son had came with a cooler pocket that was great for keeping water bottles and snacks cool. Retractable straps are popular now, but make sure that your child finds them comfortable. The straps should be well padded and easily adjustable so that your child is carrying the bag in the right position. It is also a good idea to check the sturdiness of the bag’s stand. Some stands can be easily bent and you’ll find that you’ll need to buy a new one sooner than you would expect.
Our favorite junior golf bags are from Sun Mountain Sports.
They are everything you would look for in a bag: they are lightweight, durable, have lots of extra pockets and they look great with lots of color options. We have been extremely pleased with the three Sun Mountain bags we’ve bought so far and we highly recommend them.
