Junior Golf Camps:

Learning in a Fun Environment

If your child is interested in learning how to golf, finding good junior golf camps may be the best and most cost-effective way to first introduce him to the game.

For the beginner, many City Recreation Departments offer a wide variety of programs for area kids in a recreational, non-competitive environment. These programs are typically designed for kids of all abilities, with the goal of having fun and are a great place for campers to learn golf for the very first time or to sharpen their skills. At most city recreation camps, kids will receive instruction in golf fundamentals such as putting, chipping and game etiquette. To find your city programs, look online at what your city’s Parks and Recreations Department offers.

Check out your local YMCA for summer camps. Many Y’s offer terrific instruction in a fun, reasonably priced environment for beginners.

Junior Golf Camp

Many beginner junior camps are offered by local junior golf tournament directors. To find these camps, search online for your area’s junior golf tours. If they do not offers beginner instruction or camps, if you call them, they may be able to give you camp information for your area.

Nike Junior Golf Camps are very well-known and are available in many locations. Run by US Sports Camps, they offer day as well as sleep away camps for kids of different ability levels. They work on all facets of their game - full swing, putting, short game and course management. Click here for more information about Nike Junior Golf Camps.

Many kids attend golf camps at colleges. The instruction is top-notch, typically covering every aspect of the game, including putting, chipping, pitching, sand shots, full swing, course management, rules, etiquette and club fitting, but the camps can be pricey. The Stanford Golf Camp is one of the longest-running junior camps in the country and is open to boys and girls ages 10-17 of all skill levels.
