Junior Golf Clubs:

Find the Best Clubs for your Junior Golfer

Buying junior golf clubs, irons, and drivers for your kids can be confusing. You may be tempted to cut down a club or two from an old set. Don’t! Even if your kid’s really young, you can get a golf club at a reasonable price for him or her to try. If you cut down clubs, they may have a very difficult time trying to hit the ball and become frustrated.

US Kids makes junior golf clubs for younger kids that you can buy by the club. The clubs are great starter clubs because they are color coded by your kid’s height and will be the right weight for them. For more information about buying junior golf irons, click here. As they grow, you can add the appropriate clubs. Callaway, Nike and Ping also make clubs for kids, but they are sold in sets.

What do you do when your child grows out of kids clubs, but they’re not ready for Dad-sized clubs? Some manufacturers, like Tour XT, make teen clubs. Some boys try out ladies clubs for a couple of years until they grow out of them.

We think that when your kid gets to that in-between stage you should take them to a club fitting specialist. This doesn’t need to break the bank! Many golf shops will be able to have you kid try out different clubs to see what works best. If your child is really interested in golf, has a teacher/coach and wants to play in some junior golf tournaments, your best bet is to take them to a specialist (preferably at a range so you can see the ball flight) and spend the $100 or so to get them fit with clubs that will improve their game.
